MAISON FORTUNE ORPHANAGE

The Maison Fortune Orphanage (MFO) was founded in 2000 by Lefort Jean Louis in Hinche, Haiti. MFO began with a one room house and four orphans. In 2002, he purchased the current Boys Campus property due to increasing numbers. 2004 was a year of serious growth; and in 2005, the orphanage began its own primary school for residents and children in the community. In 2008, MFO expanded to 20 girls who took up residence at the Girls Campus. After the earth quake in 2010, MFO took in over 200 children. Jean Louis continues to serve as the Founder and Executive Director. Together, Jean Louis and MFO share a goal to raise awareness and funds to keep the future of Haiti within Haiti by empowering the Haitian leaders of tomorrow. Today, MFO serves 156 boys and 85 girls along with 150 children in the community who attend the primary school. Approximately 20 children attend college after schooling at MFO. Project Haiti has been working with MFO since 1997. Approximately 40% of our funds go directly to the Maison Fortune Orphanage Foundation. Your funds have been aiding MFO in maintenance of the facilities, funding 700 meals per day, and the children’s education, specifically teacher salaries and school supplies. . JACSONVILLE

Jacsonville is a rural village roughly 30 miles outside of Hinche. Gabriel (Gaby) Thelus currently watches over the town. Gaby has a truly incredible story revolving around his devotion to the Haitian people. He had the opportunity to study at Virginia Tech for college. After finishing his degree, he returned to Haiti and founded St. Rose of Lima School in 1998. The school began with 20 children. Today, the school has grown to 300 students with 11 teachers and a principal. Project Haiti has been serving and visiting Jacsonville since 1997. Approximately 40% of our funds go directly to St. Rose of Lima School, assisting in teacher salaries, school supplies, and student payments for families in need.

AZIL

The Azil is located a few blocks down from the Maison Fortune Orphanage in Hinche, Haiti. The Azil serves as an outpost of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa in Calcutta. The center is run by Sisters belonging to the Missionaries of Charity where they take care of children who are either severely sick or malnourished. The center also serves severely sick elderly in the community. Here, the sisters are in charge of patients every day care and rely solely on donations. Over the past 10 years, Project Haiti has directly donated approximately 10% of our efforts to support the Azil in all areas of need.
